Achievement of the Investors In People Standard
November 1, 2004
Genesis Timber Engineering (GTE™) achieved the Investors In People (IIP) standard as an early impressive 2nd birthday present. Since its start up in Spring 2003 ‘GTE™’ has grown its turnover from zero to £ 750,000 – another achievement that has exceeded the target set by the company’s management team by 50%.
As an ambitious and forward thinking company ‘GTE’ recognised the importance of all its staff understanding how their individual performance & commitment impacted on company results. The IIP programme has ensured there is a clear company aim that has been formulated with input from every member of staff. James Smith, production director, has been delighted with the attitude and aptitude with which staff have embraced the standard and commented “We have seen significant increases in efficiency and production results since the introduction of the Investors In People standard. For a 2003 start up business to achieve this award in such a short space of time is something we are all immensely proud of.”
Technical director, Paul Dempster emphasised “ The quality of ones staff directly relates to the quality of both our products & services. By investing in our staff, to ensure that they are the best that they can be, we are actually investing in the future of our company. We intend to always be the best.”
GTE’s philosophy of ‘treating customers & staff the way in which they wish to be treated themselves’, is a priority – in fact it’s the companies motto!!
Sales director Simon Baldwin commented “ Our own previous experiences as employees of not feeling valued were instrumental in our decision to commit to ‘investing in our people.”
