GTE™ appointed Master Dealer for Trus Joists Silent Floor System
April 1, 2004
As a former R.A.F. camp, Genesis Timber Engineering’s headquarters in Gloucestershire must have witnessed some pretty speedy take-offs. None more so than the rapid ascent of this brand new company. Since it’s start-up in Spring 2003 Genesis has grown its turnover from zero to £ 750,000 – an achievement that has exceeded by 50% the target set by the company’s management team. Even more good news for the company is its recent appointment as a Trus Joist Master Dealer.
To be appointed a Trus Joist Master Dealer so early in its development is testimony to the faith that Trus Joist places in the new company’s board. Indeed, the board has a long and successful history with the Trus Joist through a former Master Dealer, which familiarity with Trus Joist’s products and its team, enabling the new company to really ‘hit the ground running’.
James Sweet, Trus Joist’s UK sales manager comments: “The market for engineered wood products in the UK is growing rapidly, and Genesis Timber Engineering is a prime example of a company that is really capitalising on the opportunities that this growth is bringing. Our TJI® joists and other engineered timber products are a key element in this start-up organisation.”
Having the right products is certainly important (Genesis is offering roof trusses, bespoke timber frame buildings and TJI® joists), but sales director, Simon Baldwin, knows the company’s growth has been largely due to its service-driven approach. He comments: “People deal with people, not companies. We aim to treat both customers and our own staff the way we wish to be treated ourselves. This means delivering what we say we will when we say we will. Our reputation for being a trustworthy operation is therefore growing.”
An important aspect of Genesis Timber Engineering’s operation is its specialist fleet of vehicles, which offers deliveries to site in a maximum of 5 working days from receipt of order. The majority of deliveries are made within a 100 mile radius of the company’s Gloucester HQ to regional independent builders’ merchants, national builders’ merchants, regional developers and self build projects.
At the company’s 16,500 sq.ft. production facility Genesis has appointed a number of staff specifically to handle the business generated through Trus Joist’s TJI® joists and Silent Floor® system. Already it has introduced a Silent Floor® System product manager who is a Trus Joist recognised ‘Top Gun’ operator of Trus Joist’s TJ-Xpert® software. This system automatically tracks loads throughout structures and develops sizing solutions, material lists, framing plans and installation details. A timber frame specialist has been introduced, as has a number of specialist roof truss production personnel.
Over the next twelve months, Genesis intends to invest in new machinery to handle increasing sales of TJI® joists. And in approximately two years’ time, the company’s aim is to move to a purpose-built, state-of-the-art production facility for Trussed Rafters, Bespoke Timber Frame Buildings and Silent Floor® joists.
